This bike and hike journey from Kesennuma to Kamaishi combines coastal cycling, scenic hikes and a memorable cruise aboard a local fisherman’s boat.
Explore Kesennuma Oshima Island before travelling through Rikuzentakata and the Hirota Peninsula, then continue north through the dramatic coastal landscapes of Goishi Coast and Ryori in Ofunato.
From Koishihama, take to the water with a local fisherman before finishing with a spectacular hike around the rugged Ohakozaki Peninsula in Kamaishi.
Blending active adventure with beautiful scenery, local culture and stories of recovery following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, this tour offers an unforgettable journey along the Sanriku Coast.

DAY1:

Arrival in Kesennuma
Transfer / arrival
Meet at Hachinohe Station
Transfer from Ichinoseki station to Kesennuma area and enjoy a welcome dinner together.

DAY2:

Kesennuma Oshima Bike & Hike
Cycling: 12km About 3.5hrs
Hiking: 6km About 2.5hrs

After breakfast, transfer to the Oshima-Ohashi Bridge entrance, and enjoy a day of e-bike cycling and trail hiking around the beautiful Kesennuma Oshima Island. You will see spectacular views over the island from the summit of Kameyama Mt. and walk along the coastline with beautiful camilia and red-pine tree forests. Transfer to your accommodation in Rikuzentakata.

DAY3:

Rikuzentakata Bike & Hike
Cycling: 20~25km About 5hrs
Hiking: 4.5km About 2hrs

After breakfast, transfer to the Iwate Tsunami Memorial, and learn about what happening in this area in 2011. After that, hop on your e bikes and enjoy a day cycling around Rikuzentakata city and meeting some of the locals. Partway through, we will hike a beautiful section of the trail. Cycle back to the accommodation for the night.

DAY4:

Goishi Coast Bike and & Hike
Cycling: 10km About 2.5hrs
Hiking: 5km About 2.5hrs

After breakfast, take the BRT bus to GoishiKaiganguchi station. From here, hop on our Ebikes and cycle to the Anatoshiiso lookout. From here, we will hike the trail up to the Goishi Peninsular, which is an area famous for its beautiful camilia flowers and smooth round rocks on the beach. After a delicious local lunch, back on the Ebikes and cycle into our accommodation in Ofunato City.

DAY5:

Ofunato Bike and Cruising
Cycling: 30km About 3.5hrs

After breakfast, we will take the Ebikes on a cycling tour around the Ryori peninsular, which was badly burnt by wildfires, and see the regeneration of this area first hand. Meet with a local fisherman, and take a leisurely cruise around the bay, while learning about the fishing culture here and enjoying a local lunch. Transfer on the Sanriku Rail line to Kamaishi, and on to your accommodation for the night.

DAY6:

Ohakozaki hike and departure
Hiking: 13km About 4hrs

Transfer / departure
After breakfast, enjoy a hike out to the Hakozaki peninsular and Senjojiki rocks. Once returning to the Horaikan for a freshen up, transfer to Kamaishi Station to end the tour.
