Summary
This northern section from Hachinohe to Miyako offers a vast variety of amazing scenery, from coastal cliffs to serene beaches, vibrant fishing communities, and lush green lawns. This journey through Japan’s Tohoku region blends nature, history, and adventure into one incredible tour.
This tour is a Self-guided version, so we will organize the accommodation and course details for you, and then you can hike at your own pace over the course of 7 days.

- Hike the northern Sanriku Coast from Miyako to Hachinohe, featuring some of the most scenic sections of the Michinoku Coastal Trail.

- Walk through quiet fishing villages and hidden coves along the rugged Iwate coastline.

Transfer from Morioka to Miyako via 106 highway bus, or JR Yamada line train.
Stay overnight in Miyako city.

Hiking Course:13.5km.
About 5hrs Level of difficulty：★★
After breakfast, transfer to Jodogahama via local bus. Explore Joodogahama beach area, then hike from here to Anegasaki area.
Stay overnight in North Miyako area

About 5hrs Level of difficulty：★★★★
After breakfast, transfer to Tanohata station and hike towards Kitayamazaki Cliffs. Transfer to accommodation for tonight.
Stay overnight in Tanohata or Fudai areas

Hiking Course:16km.
About 5~6hrs Level of difficulty：★★★
After breakfast, transfer back to Kitayamazaki cliffs, and continue the hike from here to Fudai station. Alternative to make it a shorter day also available. Transfer from Fudai station via local train to Kuji station.
Stay overnight in Kuji area

About 5~6hrs Level of difficulty：★★★
After breakfast, transfer to Itsukushima Shrine via private taxi. Hike to Rikuchu-Nakano station. Taxi transfer from here to your accommodation.
Stay overnight in Tanesashikaigan area

About 4hrs Level of difficulty：★
After breakfast, hike from Tanesashi kaigan to the train head at Kabushima Shrine. Continue on to Same station, and take the train from here to Hon-Hachinohe station.

The weather can change quite a lot depending on the day, and even within the same day, so please ensure you have good quality rain-wear, as we hike in the rain as well (provided it is deemed safe).
