Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, USA, Quinlan moved to Japan more than two decades ago after spending 10 months in China. Following backpacking adventures through India and Nepal, he lived in Tokyo for about 10 years before settling in Iwate in 2010.
Quinlan is now an experienced outdoor guide specializing in mountain and trail adventures, as well as an Airbnb host and a YouTuber. A certified sake sommelier and coffee enthusiast, he brings a wide range of interests to his work.
As a seasoned hiker with a passion for history, Buddhism, and esoteric spiritual traditions, he combines cultural depth with a love for the outdoors.
